Set above Golant, a small Cornish village in an exceptional position on the edge of the Fowey estuary, is Bodriggan, a magnificent house, built in the 1920s, that commands breath-taking views across the valley to the river below.  The current owners, Robin and Liz Anderson, have spared no expense in continuing the legacy of its previous proprietors in taking great care of this unique building.

Garden Room

Earlier this year, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson approached DJ Newman Joinery with a request to manufacture a bespoke staircase.  So pleased were they with the result, they then asked if we would consider manufacturing a new garden room to take advantage of the wonderful views.

Traditional Craftsmanship

They wanted the frame to be made out of iroko, a very durable hardwood from Africa, and be fitted with a slate roof.  Externally, there was to be a safety-railing and steps leading down to the garden, also in iroko.  Everything was to be made using the craftsmanship of a traditional joiner, the hallmark of DJ Newman Joinery.

Manufactured mostly during March and April this year, the construction of this beautifully-designed room-with-a-view is now almost complete – and looks spectacular.

Customer Review

Mr. Anderson sent us these photographs together with the following commendation:

“We are delighted with the workmanship of the DJ Newman team who made our iroko hardwood garden room. Their attention to detail and support throughout the project has been excellent and we would highly recommend the firm to anyone who is looking for top quality joinery.” – Robin & Liz Anderson
